Engineering company fined after worker sustains fatal injuries
The District Court of New South Wales has found an engineering services company guilty of a charge under section 19(1)/32 of theΒ Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
The conviction follows an avoidable incident where a contractor suffered fatal injuries at a factory in Auburn in 2017. Another worker was seriously injured trying to help.
The Court further found that while BuddcoΒ Pty Ltd had a detailed written safety system in place, there was no standard or safe step-by-step procedure set up. This could have prevented theΒ tragedy.
Buddco Pty Ltd was fined $600,000 for breaching its work health and safety duty.
